I did extensive research on dishwashers, Bosch 500/800 and KitchenAid have the least amount of repair calls. But, all makes do get their fair amount. I went to Best Buy to get the Bosch 500, they were actually out of stock and it was on back order for 3 more months. I ended up getting the KitchenAid KDTE204KPS, this is the next down from pop open door. It was on sale for $854.99. Super quiet, and dries dishes very well. 3rd rack on top is shallow, just for flatware. Next one up does have deeper third rack. Very pleased with this dishwasher and would recommend to others to buy. I previously had a 46 dB Whirlpool. To answer your question, It was quiet too, but not a huge difference between the Whirlpool and new KitchenAid @ 39 dB.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We just bought this dishwasher about a month ago and love it so far. We were interested in the Bosch as well but ultimately went with the Kitchenaid because of it's relative simplicity in how you load the dishwasher. It doesn't have specialized areas for certain dishes or stemware holders or anything like that, it's just a simple tine design that allows us to load it how we need to while also utilizing the third row for only silverware. While the decibel level is lower on the Kitchenaid, it is not going to be very noticeable at that difference. We can barely hear ours when it is running which is nice if you're watching TV and the kitchen is close to your living room. As for the door pop feature, the Kitchenaid we bought doesn't have that feature but it does still have a heat coil at the bottom to heat dry the dishes instead of the condensation heat dry that Bosch has. Essentially it doesn't need that feature because the heating coil dries them off. We do pop ours open manually before unloading just because the dishes are hot. Hope this helps!
