Another vendor has a great breakdown of all the levels of the models, but there is an unlabeled version on the KitchenAid website, https://www.kitchenaid.com/major-appliances/dishwashers/third-rack.html (under STYLE Make it your own). Each includes the feature(s) of the lower level(s) plus the additional feature for that level. 404 = FreeFlex Third Rack 604 = Fan-Enabled ProDry System 704 = LED Interior Lighting 804 = Stainless Interior Accents
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I contacted KitchenAid / Whirlpool about this exact same question. I too, could find zero differences between the 2 Models. KitchenAid searched & searched & they also, could find no differences. So, finally, after speaking with a Senior Person, they told me that the 804 is simply the Newer Model Year. So, as far as I could find out, that's it. To me, this means NEWER PARTS and potentially, slight internal Design changes that cannot be seen, like Power Supplies, Filters, Motors, etc. These are things that Engineering would keep track of; but, the general public could care less about. However, it would be nice if KitchenAid would put SOMETHING on their Web Site about this issue. Especially since the costs are so different.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 804 "apparently" has a knife rack accessory. I would NOT put high-quality chef's knives in the dishwasher. I learned the hard way when I used an overnight cycle. All the metal caps covering the handle rivets became unglued and clogged the filter. The only other differences mentioned are "stainless steel interior accents" and the fact that the 804 is available in Black Stainless Steel and the 704 is not.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was told by Best Buy the 804 has stainless steal ball bearings, in the wheels for the trays. I played with the 804 and very smooth. I have not seen the 704.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just to Add - KDTM704KPS only comes in Stainless steel finish. 804 version Has the black stainless finish option.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Besides newer parts internal, the 804 has an option for black stainless and the 704 is only stainless.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think the 804 has an interior light.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Nobody has mentioned that the 804 has "Eco Series" designation, whatever that means, while the 704 does not.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 604 and 704 need a 28 inch counter depth.
