“Why is KRFF577KPS $1500 more than KRFF507HPS? I don’t see anything different in the specs. Second question—does KitchenAid require a water filter change every six months like GE. I’ve read that GE water stops working without a new filter…true?”

• The KR577KPS does NOT have ice in freezer area. It is sadly in the refrigerator just like the 507 model. See pictures.

• Hello Moan17, besides the dimension differences, the differences are KRFF577KPS-This model is Fingerprint resistant Stainless Steel, Ice Maker is located is Freezer, Platinum interior, and Sabbath Mode. KRFF507HSS- this model is just Stainless Steel, Ice Maker is located in Refrigerator section. The water filter will need to be changed in both models every 6 months. We hope this helps.
