Be thankful you don't need to install the downdraft since you have a hood. We do not have a hood and spent $3,800 for our downdraft because we have an island and absolutely NO ONE WILL DO THE INSTALL FOR THE VENTING. Best Buy is doing nothing about this and had no problem selling us an expensive range with no one to help us. They ignore our phone calls don't return our calls and this is at the store level. I always loved Best Buy but they have proven themselves to not be an honest retailer. You can only prove how good you are when there is a problem and Best Buy has failed miserably.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The downdraft would not have to be installed. But, if it has to be electrically hooked up according to the software, then you would want to make sure you didn't push the button to turn it on. There is another issue, it may use the downdraft function under certain circumstances when the oven is used. There is another almost identical version of this range that looks the same but does not have the downdraft functionality. It has a second oven (at the bottom of the unit), however. I can't think of any reason to get this unit or the Jenn Air version if you have a hood; my unsolicited opinion would be NOT to get this version but get the one that lacks the downdraft -- you will end up with more capabilities and not have a "vestigial" piece of hardware. But, if you have a reason to get this one, please check to see if it has to be hooked up (electrically, if not physically) in order for the unit to function and also find out if the downdraft is used under certain circumstances when the oven is used (including the cleaning cycle.) Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You'd save money to avoid the downdraft model. But yes, the downdraft vent arrives as a separate piece which has to be installed. If you don't install it -- as far as I know, you could just allow your hood to do the job.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Why pay the extra money for a downdraft oven if you already have a vented hood? Downdraft ovens are for those without hoods above their current ovens or oven placement.
