I had the same trepidation when I decided to purchase this dishwasher just over a month ago. I can't say for sure whether this will last 2 years or not, but so far in terms of appearance, noise level, controls, initial build quality, and bottom-line effectiveness of the dishwasher as a washer of dishes (it's only job!), I would give it a 10 out of 10. I replaced another old KitchenAid dishwasher with this one. That old system was a PITA - far too much use of plastics inside the tub that broke and were difficult and/or expensive to find, but even more critically, that old KitchenAid leaked out of several different seals, one of which (heavy leak out of the front door) was obvious to detect and correct, while others (very slow drippy leak out of some gasket seals underneath) went undetected for probably a year or more and caused a bit of damage to the wooden flooring underneath. That itself was the main reason for my concern in buying a new KitchenAid. The other one was probably a mid-range unit, while this is easily an upper-end model. I see FAR less use of plastics inside this dishwasher (it's basically all metal everywhere, some of it rubber-coated). The fit and finish of this model are excellent, and for quiet operation, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find something better at anything near this unit's price (especially if on sale). In terms of doing its job (getting dishes clean), again, you'd be hard-pressed to improve upon the performance I've found so far with this dishwasher. My wife was willing to just do dishes in the sink and use the old dishwasher as a drying rack for a while - she didn't want to splurge on this machine at the time. She's now convinced also that this was a terrific purchase. Overall, if you can still find this model locally, I'd recommend it. Good luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. All appliances these days just suck. No longevity whatsoever. But you need a dishwasher. I wouldn’t pay $1k but we got over $300 off. If you want one to last longer though you will probably have to spend a lot more. Wait for a sale and stick with the brands that have been around for 100 years. Everyone has issues. But whirlpool and Maytag know the business better than LG or Samsung. Neither which care if your stuff ever does work. They have 0 customer service. You can buy a kitchen aid do so knowing that if it breaks someone local will probably have the parts and know how to fix it. We had exactly the same dilemma and we purchased a $1000 kitchen aid on sale with $335 off. I suggest you talk to a local repair shop that’s been around at least 40 years. Maybe even give them the business even if it costs a little more. They are the folks that see everyone’s problems first hand. Our store has been here for almost 100 years. We were told to stay away from Samsung and Lg for reasons I’ve stated that are obvious. Good luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The KitchenAid dishwasher we bought looked good too, but performed terribly. It’s the worst dishwasher I’ve ever owned. We have to take out the filter and clean the coop in the filthy old food and grit by hand. We are trading it in today. We bought it three years ago. There’s no reason that anyone should have to clean out a filter in the dishwasher with her bare hands. Not in 2023. Get it straight, KitchenAid, or lose more business.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I like never write reviews or comments, but had such a bad experience with this dishwasher I felt compelled. Mine broke after 3 years. Even before, it didn't drain properly, had to hit the cancel button to fully drain (so not a clogged hose). Hate the "filter", there's just a big grate but nothing else you could get at. Was going to replace with Bosch 100 series (huge removable filter trap) but another big box retailer didn't want to remove old one due to risk of damaging hardwood floors. Instead of replacing with low-end Whirlpool model, am spending $300 for a new pump and motor assembly + labor ($150). I've read reviews of tons of dishwashers and sounds like all have risk of failing in a few years (that being said I hear worse things about repairing Japanese models). I used to never purchase extended warranties, but these days will be on appliances for just this reason.
