I checked out the Klipsch website and it looks like this is a slightly newer system with a wireless option. The wireless is not bluetooth, but instead is a proprietary usb based transmitter. That was the only difference I could find. All other specs were exactly the same was the old system.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is a newer Bluetooth version. There isn't a WiFi usb receiver for this model. On another note, I had this system for two weeks and returned it. Sounds great and just as good as the original ProMedia 2.1 that lasted me 7+ years (damaged during a move), but this model will not allow for multiple audio connections. I used the original ProMedia set connected to my PC and the side AUX input to a Mac Mini. This version will only allow one physical or BT connection at a time. Info from Klipsch support: "...System can only have one audio source at a time. The main source is the Main PC input. If you connect into the AUX input it will override the PC input's audio and you will just hear the AUX input. This is the same with the Bluetooth input. When you connect to it it will override the PC input or the AUX input. You can not have all 3 connected at the same time. You will have to chose which source you want to use. If you want to have both computers hooked up at the same time, you will have to get a source switcher or stereo line mixer. Because the unit will not play audio from both sources by design."
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Bluetooth model came out in 2016 (I got mine about a month ago), there are some changes to the design, the main audio plug in the back is a lot better. The specs are really close but not quite the same as the standard Promedia 2.1. The BT version does not have the THX badge. I think the satellite speakers seem about the same, the change looks to be in the subwoofer, amp and crossover. I use it plugged into the computer but have listened from my cell phone via BT as well. I am very happy with the speakers, I have owned Logitech, HK and Altec Lansing computer speakers and these are much better.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not really, but kind of. The Sub woofer used to be class D back in 2000 is now class AB on the newest shipped model. no power switch on back or fuse, no off position on the satellite speakers so you can't fully disable the speakers and they consume idle power. best to hook the power on its own switch "surge bar" so you can save energy from idle consume of electricity when the hardware is not in use..
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This set is in fact THX certified just as the old model was. It says so right on the product page for the Promedia 2.1 Bluetooth http://www.klipsch.com/products/klipsch-promedia-2-1-computer-speakers
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's the same except now they have added Bluetooth now. The other difference I have noticed is there is no power on/off switch on the back of the sub like the old ones had circa 2005. You can still purchase old model for about $20 cheaper but without Bluetooth. See the manufacturer's website.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.According to the Klipsch web site this model (BT) was released in 2016. The BT version is not THX certified apparently as it is not marked on the speakers or in the manual anymore.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not sure if it's the same model or new model, but I figure the model is maybe a year old. Model: ProMedia 2.1 BT
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Its the same model with improvements and Bluetooth...
