I haven't heard the promedia in a few years but based on my memory these would likely be a good upgrade with a sub. r51pm is even better if not just for desktop use.

Add the Sub and its hard to compare the two. The Bluetooth is a big factor for me because I stream my music via Spotify from my Note 10, the phone doesn't have a traditional headphone jack, so I couldn't use the ProMedia speakers with my new phone. That aside these are next level audiofile speakers. Other than entering the $1000 plus range these are amazing, accurate, loud, easy to use and fill all of the holes that the ProMedia left open. Lows are unbeatable, highs are accurate and the mids are unmuddy and clear. I highly recommend them. Oh BTW these are incredible for small and larger areas. Compact enough for a bedroom and powerful enough for a large living room.
