• The surface is not ventilated in any way and it's not specifically designed to cool a laptop. It's essentially just a plastic surface. However, it can fit a cooling mat with fans on top of it, which is what I do if I'm gaming.

• Sort of. While not having active cooling via fans, it's certainly better than having your laptop on a soft surface like your lap or a bed. It will be the same as using a traditional hard top desk.
