• Hello! The LeapPad2 is powered by 4 AA batteries, we have a recharger pack available separately that enables the device to be plugged in and charged. Alternatively the LeapPad2 Power comes with this power pack already installed.

• You can keep buying batteries or buy the recharger pack which I think runs about twenty bucks.

• The one our son received had rechargeable battery packs and a charger included...but the pkg stated they were included.

• It takes 4 double "A" batteries. I had to buy it to find out. The packaging doesn't say so on the outside.

• It takes 4AA batteries also you can purchase a cord to plug it in to an outlet if batteries run down and they want to play. You can purchase a charger just watch for sales.
