How can this be legal to install inside the wall? It is not directly connected (hardwired) to live power. Does it meet code in most cities? YES. Why is it different than running an extension cord through the wall? Extension cords are recommended for temporary power only as the jacket on the wire doesn't out-gas heat properly. Also the wiring conductors inside the extension cord are stranded and flexible and need to be solid strands for permanent power. The included in-wall wiring is terminated on both ends with a UL rating for in - wall use and plus into power "outside" of the wall and can be unplugged with zero risk of shock or fire.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is legal because it is UL/ETL listed for use within the wall. Extension cords are not listed for use within a wall, and therefore can't be. Simply comes down to the labeling and testing of this product and installation per its listing and design/instructions.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is not legal in Chicago/Cook county, New York, and Washington
