  • QuestionA recent reviewer on this product page wrote that the laptop they received had UHD graphics and not the advertised Intel Iris xe graphics. Can you confirm that this model (82QD00DHUS) does have Intel Iris xe graphics?

    Asked by Customer.

    • Answer Technically, it has both. It's important to note that Iris xe graphics can only function while the laptop is configured in "Dual Channel" mode - that is, only when both ram channels are being used. This particular laptop has Iris xe graphics onboard , but it ships with only one ram channel occupied (8gb soldered) and one empty channel that can accommodate an additional 8gb ram stick for a total of 16gb. While running on the "Single Channel", this laptop will function and display as "UHD" graphics. But, again, utilize the second channel (or "Dual Channel" memory) and the graphics will then work as "Iris xe". See: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000094617/graphics.html

  • QuestionDoes this unit have a cd player

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer No. There are a number of reasons why internal optical drives are largely unavailable, though they can still be found, mostly (but not exclusively) in "hardened" laptops that look (and weigh) like bricks and are used in construction, emergency situations, and the military. There are a number of reasons for this: 1. Modern laptops (and desktops) are pushing to be smaller and weigh less, with many companies advertising their computers as “ultra thin” or “easily portable.” Optical drives significantly add weight (about half a pound) and bulk (12 cm diameter) 2. Even Blu-ray discs top out at 128 GB, far below either HDDs or SSDs on a per-centimeter basis. 3. With the advent of cheap flash storage, fast network connectivity, cloud storage, software distributed via the Internet, and USB 3.0 (and now USB 3.1, doubling the raw link speed to 20 Gbps), integrated optical drives have largely become obsolete. As mentioned in the other reply, should you need an optical drive, they are still available, at a modest cost, as external, portable units.

  • QuestionHello. Two weeks ago I bought an ideapad i3 Model:82QD00DHUSSKU:6571565. Now I want to add 16GB to it. How should I buy it in my country, I need to know exactly the technical specification of the memory. Many thanks

    Asked by tota.

    • Answer I have NO Idea WHAT the Name of Your Country is, therefore neither WHERE Your Country is located. So, How you Should buy it In Your Country would be guessing an answer. However, Laptop includes two RAM Memory Slots, where 1-slot already has a Soldered 8GB RAM Stick DDR4-3200MHz bandwidth (Permanent, Not Replaceable), and has a 2nd memory slot (Open, Replaceable) to accommodate another DDR4 8GB 3200 MHz bandwidth RAM module/stick, hence supporting up to 16GB (8GB soldered + 8GB SO-DIMM) DDR4-3200MHz bandwidth. You should Always Match the Clock Speed of all installed RAM Memory /Modules/ Sticks. If you install a second RAM Stick that is 8GB 2400MHz bandwidth, then the soldered 8GB 3200MHz bandwidth will Automatically Reduce to 2400MHz bandwidth, so that both modules run as a Dual Channel RAM Memory system. "Generally, Dual Channel (8+8) is comparatively faster than Single Channel (16). Also, the Higher the clock speed, the better the Performance. Therefore, 3200MHz is better than 2400MHz."

  • QuestionHello, is the ram upgradable on this laptop? Thank you! :)

    Asked by Lee.

    • Answer I upgraded mine to 40GB by adding a 32GB DDR4 SO-DIMM 3200MHz. I had previously added 8GB taking it to 16GB but decided to try a 32GB (making it 8+32=40GB) and it works.

  • QuestionCan this laptop support dual external monitors? I know many USB-C ports will support a monitor plus there is a HDMI port. If not, is it achievable with a dock of some kind.

    Asked by Wyatt.

    • Answer Hi, Wyatt. It should work with two displays; however, you would have to use a USB 3.0 to video (what port is needed to connect to the second monitor, i.e., HDMI, VGA, or else) adapter as the USB-C port on this model supports data transfer only.
