If you leave your laptop computer plugged in all of the time, we recommend you turn on Battery Conservation Mode from within the Lenovo Vantage APP. This APP will only allow the battery to charge to 60 Percent capacity, to help prolong the overall life of the internal battery, when it remains plugged in, all of the time.

    • Answer Switching out of S mode in Windows Windows in S mode is designed for security and performance, exclusively running apps from the Microsoft Store. If you want to install an app that isn't available in the Microsoft Store, you'll need to switch out of S mode. Switching out of S mode is one-way. If you make the switch, you won't be able to go back to Windows in S mode. There's no charge to switch out of S mode. 1 On your PC running Windows in S mode, open Settings Gear-shaped Settings icon > Update & Security Circular arrows Sync icon > Activation. 2 In the Switch to Windows Home or Switch to Windows Pro section, select Go to the Store. (If you also see an "Upgrade your edition of Windows" section, be careful not to click the "Go to the Store" link that appears there.) 3 On the Switch out of S mode (or similar) page that appears in the Microsoft Store, select the Get button. After you see a confirmation message on the page, you'll be able to install apps from outside of the Microsoft Store.

If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost.

  • QuestionBest buy, seriously? This laptop with black Friday discount was 429.99 and suspiciously it became unavailable to purchase like for a week. Yesterday the deal ended(with the laptop unavailable), and today Nov. 8th it is available in full price. Not bueno

    • Answer I got mine from Best Buy more than a month ago, and it went in and out of availability for several days before it was successfully ordered and delivered. Don't think it is Best Buy; think availability nationwide these days. I love it, would recommend you keep watching, and talk to them about the discount price application once it is back. They have always worked with me on things like that, and I totally trust them. Sixth major purchase from them in past 10 years, and I have NEVER been disappointed with the product or customer service or install assistance.

  • QuestionWill this laptop function well if I switch out of S mode? There are some laptops that need to stay in S mode in order to function well.

    • Answer I switched out of "S" mode immediately. Only glitch is the touch screen stops working after a couple days and I need to restart the computer to fix it. Whether switching out of "S" mode caused this or not, I don't know. It's not a major issue and it's good to restart the computer periodically anyway. But it is annoying.
