It is a handheld PC. It will always be in "Desktop Mode". However, what I think you may be asking about how you can potentially use this device, You can connect it to a TV or monitor to use as a PC. Basically, this is the computer, all packed neatly into a small size. You can choose to have a larger working space for other tasks or even gaming if you use a USB-C cable/dock that has an HDMI or Displayport connection.
