loud is comparative. I returned the acer spin 5 because it was really loud, and the pitch was deeper, sounding a bit like a broken machine (it wasn't broken - that was normal), and not covered by anything I was listening to - a real drag when watching a movie during quiet scenes. comparatively, this is a much more reasonable fan noise, about what I expect out of a laptop, and easily covered by any music you might be listening to, or ambient noise eg in a café. it's not so bad in a quiet room, even, but again that's subjective.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I also was concerned about this, but the problem seems to be solved for the most part. On rare occasion the fan will kick on at weird times, but not to the point of being obnoxious or loud. It usually doesn't last too long either.
