  • QuestionHello - What is the major differences between the Yoga 9i and the Yoga 7i?

    • Answer It's going to be a lot of small differences that add up. The 7i is slightly thicker and heavier. The speakers on the 9i are slightly better and are on a rotating hinge. The screen on the 9i is slightly brighter. The 9i comes with the pen and a storage spot for the pen. The processor on the 9i is the 1185g7 vs the 1165g7 which has about a 9% performance benefit (i.e. it's slightly better). The battery life is slightly better on the 9i, partially because the ddr4 vs lpddr4 ram on the two laptop's. The 7i is a good laptop. In comparison to the 9i, there are just a bunch of small differences that when taken together may or may not be worth the upgrade.

  • QuestionWhat is the battery life of the stylus? I would like to use it during meetings that usually last about an hour.

    • Answer The battery life of this pen is terrible. I use it for taking notes in class. It dies within ten to fifteen minutes. Third party pens are not even an option. They have a better battery life, but the writing precision is abysmal. I have had my pen replaced twice and it still did not solve the issue. So do not but this laptop for drawing, sketching, or any other art projects.

    • Answer Yes. The Lenovo Yoga 9i-14 ships with its own garaged active/digital pen. The pen will recharge when it is stored within the pen garage when not in use. Microsoft Word is compatible with Microsoft Ink, so you will be able to use your active/digital pen within a Word Document.

    • Answer Be sure you are putting the pen back into the pen garage within the Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 correctly. Then from the Windows Menu, launch Lenovo Pen Settings App. A Battery Indicator icon is shown at the top of the Lenovo Pen Settings App if the pen is detected. This is how you will know the pen is in the pen garage properly and is charging. When you hover your mouse on the Battery Indicator icon, it should show the battery percentage. If your pen continues not to charge while in the pen garage, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support for additional help at: 877-453-6686.

    • Answer Thank you for choosing the Intel Evo-Certified, Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 for your grandson. There is a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 365 included as part of the Windows 10 operating system. He will want to use the 25 digit Product Activation Code that is on the Microsoft Office Family License you purchased, to activate the Microsoft Office Software Suite installed on this computer. No additional software need be installed or downloaded for Microsoft Office to work. If he already has an active Microsoft Office Account, have him try just signing in with his existing user name and password. He may still need the 25-digit Product Activation Code too.
