You vacuum the front plastic part and vacuum the inside white part. Very easy and it tells you when you need to replace the charcoal filter.

To maintain your filter, you may regularly gently shake or vacuum the filters (but do not use water). Trapped water particles may result in mold growth or mildew smells.
