Hi, If your dad is only going to adjust the volume after set-up and nothing else, then technically the smartphone does not need to be there. However, it is recommended for the phone and devices to be used together as it makes it easier to troubleshoot the device and hearing aids if need be. An individual's experience with a hearing aid also changes over time so it might be that your dad needs to have some of the other features adjusted to improve his experience, and for that, the smartphone also needs to be there. The devices will only work with the phone it has been set up originally. You will have to download the app and log into a different phone and pair the devices on there if you want to use it with any other smartphone. Lexie Hearing team
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The advantage of switching to a smartphone is the ability to control the volume easily from the phone and I have really enjoyed having that capability. However, you can easily get around using a smartphone by merely setting the volume at a level low enough that there will just not be any problems associated with the hearing aids. This can be done very quickly, just to eliminate any unwanted sounds from the hearing aids. So the answer is yes, you can use these hearing aids without having to use a smartphone.
