It’s flat to the wall - you can also install a bracket for more security- I have not done it yet
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The microwave rests on a bracket that is attached to the back wall, it is then tilted upward and then bolted to the wood cabinet with 2 bolts that go through 2 drilled holes.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The bracket that holds the microwave up against the wall is about 1/4 inch thick. I have ceramic tile on the wall that stops about 4 inches down below the wooden cabinet which surrounds the top the microwave as it hangs on the wall. The ceramic tile is 1/4 inch thick which can be seen in the picture. It is hardly noticeable that the there is a 1/4 inch gap between the back of the microwave and the wall.

There is usually a slight gap to allow for proper ventilation and to prevent interference with the cabinet.
