This microwave uses two 3/8 inch diameter holes in the bottom of the cabinet above it 10-3/16 inches from the wall to support the front of the microwave along with the steel wall bracket that is absolutely required to support the back so don't skip installing the metal bracket. Mine is installed under standard upper cabinets that are 11-3/4 inches deep leaving about 1-1/4 inches between the edge of the head of the hanging bolt and the front edge of the cabinets bottom shelf. To me the more critical dimension to consider is the 13-3/4 minimum distance between the bottom of the microwave and the stoves burners. Since the microwave is roughly 16-1/4 inches tall that means you need a minimum of 30 inches between the bottom of the cabinet your mounting it under and the top of the stoves burners. Note that there are a second set of threaded inserts about 1 inch further back in the top of the microwave though they are not marked on the installation template. These could allow installation under cabinets an inch shallower than 11-3/4 inches deep or with a wide front rail under the shelf which you wouldn't want to weaken by drilling or cutting through it. If you already have a 10 or so year old GE mounted under your cabinet there is a good chance you will be able to use your existing wall bracket and all you will have to do is drill new 3/8 inch holes in the bottom of the cabinet for the new hanging bolt locations. The power cord even lined up when I swapped out the old GE with this new LG.
