A:Answer I bought this unit a couple months before this question was asked and answered. I would NOT have bought it had I known that there is NO BACKLIGHT for the display panel! The unit at the store display did not have power to be able to see this. I put this in a basement kitchen where I like it to be dark because it is also a home theater. Every time I try to use it, I have to go turn on the overhead lights in the room. The kitchen lights ruin the home theater experience.
I can't imagine WHY LG thought this was a good idea. It costs pennies for a few LEDs and the few millamps (at 5v, even lower current at wall voltage) is negligible. They needn't be lit constantly, at least turn them on for a few seconds when any key is pressed.
Nothing but frustration!
