Thank you for reaching us regarding LG Microwave. The LG MVEL2137D over-the-range microwave has removable filters. There are two types: 1. Grease Filters: Found underneath the microwave, these catch grease and particles while cooking. Clean them at least once a month for best performance. 2. Charcoal Filter: This filter helps eliminate odors and is needed if the microwave recirculates air. It cannot be cleaned and should be replaced every 6 to 12 months, depending on how often you use the microwave.
