Thought I just answered it. Open box means appliance is on display in store. And that's the one being sold. It could be the last one made with a certain finish and was on display so customers can check it out and compare with other models or brands. At some point store decides to sell these models. Exterior could have nicks, scratches, etc. Check with sales rep about warranties on the open box items. And there could be another reason why this one is being sold as open box.

That means it could have some scratches on the exterior, customers have had access to it to open door, check the shelves, how the come out, if shelves have parts that lay down or stand up depending on your needs and dishes. You can't pick color or finish. You will have to ask store what warranties these models have as opposed to those still in boxes when it's delivered to you. If store has boxed models in stock, you can take it home if you prefer.
