• As of 2020, the most common type of Freon used in refrigerators is R-134a (tetrafluoroethane). This Freon is not harmful to the ozone layer and has a low global warming potential

Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Thru-the-Door Ice and Water, Model # LSXS26366S like most modern refrigerators probably uses a refrigerant called HFC-134a (1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane), which does not deplete the ozone layer, instead of Freon...^IFV
