The flow of water to the dispenser and the reduced ice cube size are also indications that the filter needs replacing. If you already have water filtration in your kitchen, then the Replace Filter icon and other indicators that the filter needs replacing probably don't turn on or occur so it is at your discretion as to whether or not you want to buy a replacement every six months. If your water filtration system is doing an adequate job of filtering your water, you can remove the filter after six months.
