A:Answer The amount varies with the weight and type of items in the washer, and whether or not you select "extra water" manually. But it is little enough that unless you want extra water, you normally do not see the water in the tub as it washes. The clothes are clearly wet, but they are not sloshing around in water. My old washer used up to 40 gallons per load (20 each to wash and rinse), and this one uses a small fraction of that. I know because of the quantity that gets pumped out at the end of the wash and rinse cycles.
