Yes you can connect an antenna. I am so close to the TV towers I just use a paper clip for an antenna.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, we do not have cable or satellite tv either. I had no problem connecting this tv to the antenna for broadcast channels. Just go to the settings and it will pretty much walk you through adding channels.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The TV has a regular plug for cable, you can connect to cable or Antenna, it both works. The HDMI is something extra, you can connect additional devices to the TV (Roku, DVD Player, Apple TV etc.) But if you just want to use an Antenna, that works just fine, too.

The HDMI ports on the TV generally do not accept antenna connection unless the antenna is itself connected to some sort of converter box that has an HDMI output that is designed to connect to the TV. We are not aware of any that do and typically, most internal and external antennas if not all of them, connect to the TV via the RF coaxial input on your TV. The RF Coaxial input is an analog interface wherein the audio and video are modulated onto analog channel 3 or 4. RF only supports displaying video in 480i. (Your DVD player displays 480p) Your TV antenna also connects to this same RF coaxial input and all digital-to-analog converter boxes have both an antenna input which accepts the coaxial cable that formerly went directly to the TV and an RF output which now goes directly to the TV's ATSC tuner. They may also have additional outputs. Any converter box converts the digital signal for the current digital sub-channel to an analog signal at the reduced screen resolution of the analog standard, outputs that signal onto analog channels (which used to be set by the user to avoid any conflict with local over-the-air channels) and sends that signal to the analog tuner in the TV (the ATSC Tuner)...IFV
