To connect your DVD player you will connect the red and white audio with the red and white cables and the yellow cable will go into the green port. ^CP
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.FYI ignore the "won't recognize" they are just too young to assume anything old is worthwhile. What worked: yellow into green video spot, red into audio red, white into audio white. TV source on my Vizio says VCR (4 years old) my newer tv it says component.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was able to hook up my old JVC DVD player to this TV using new 'component' cables I got on Amazon. These are white/red (audio) and blue/green/red (video) and correspond exactly to the inputs on the back of the TV. Per someone else's suggestion here, I ended up having to put the green cable into the yellow input on my DVD player (otherwise the TV would not recognize the DVD player in the 'Component' menu). I had to play around for more than an hour to get this to work through trial and error: switching a setting on the back of the DVD player, and changing the aspect ratio to 16:9 (which is the same as on the TV) and also the picture settings on the TV. It works all right, but the quality is pretty dismal -- grainy, and with horizontal lines... I've posted a question here to ask why the lousy quality, so I shall see, but basically I think it will come down to my having to upgrade my DVD player to one with HDMI inputs and outputs. SOOOO much fun trying to mix old and new technology... isn't it?? Btw, the old cables I already had with the DVD player -- the standard red/white/yellow ones hooked up okay, but there was no video -- no picture at all -- only audio. Which is why I purchased the new cables. So I do disagree with the person who said RCA cables don't work. Component cables ARE RCA cables, only the video is split into three cables (green, blue and red) instead of one yellow cable. I will update this if I get an answer from LG.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just learned this today: the colored jacks are called RCA connections. This TV WILL NOT ACCEPT RCA connections. You must have a direct line to the HDMI port or Optical digital audio port. We bought an adapter and it does not work and the LG rep said it will not work with this tv. So if your DVD player does not have a port for HDMI or Optical digital you are out of luck. That is what happened to us.
