Thank you for your interest in the LG Sound Bar SQC4R 4.1 ch with Rear Speaker Kit (SQC4R) model. Here are some simple steps to potentially solve the issue of a soundbar only playing in stereo and not surround sound: 1. Check sound settings: Ensure the TV's audio output is set to "Auto" or "Bitstream" instead of "PCM" or "Stereo" to send the correct audio signal to the soundbar. 2. Try a different optical cord: Using a high-quality, compatible optical cord can resolve any issues with audio signal transmission. 3. Update the soundbar's firmware: Check for firmware updates to improve compatibility and resolve surround sound playback issues. 4. Reset the soundbar: Resetting the soundbar to its factory settings can be done by pressing and holding the volume down button for 5 seconds or following the appropriate method for your model. 5. Contact LG support: If the steps above don't work, reach out to LG support for further assistance tailored to your specific soundbar model. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We're sorry to hear that you're having trouble getting your soundbar to work in surround sound. Using a different optical cord can potentially solve the issue of the soundbar not playing in surround sound. Here are some troubleshooting steps to try: 1. Check the TV sound settings: On your LG TV, go to the Settings menu, navigate to the Audio/Sound menu, and choose Sound Out. Select the type of connection you are using, such as Optical, to ensure the correct sound output is set. 2. Check the soundbar settings: On your soundbar, ensure that the mode is set to Optical to match the connection type 3. Try a different optical cable: Sometimes, the included optical cable may be faulty. Test the soundbar with a different optical cable to see if that resolves the issue 4. Reset the soundbar: If the above steps don't work, you can try resetting the soundbar. The reset method may vary depending on the model. Refer to the user manual or the manufacturer's website for instructions on how to reset your specific soundbar. If none of these steps work, there may be an issue with the compatibility between your TV and the soundbar. In that case, you may reach us out on Facebook or Twitter through @LGUSSupport. ~Bridge
