While you need to plug the sub woofer into an outlet for power, the 'wireless' aspect is that you don't need to run a wire from the sub woofer to the sound bar. It is blue-tooth. Therefore you can plug in the sub woofer either next to the sound bar or, as I have it, across the living room and not have yet another wire going across the living room floor. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I understand your confusion. The subwoofer needs to be powered, hence plugged into an electrical outlet; however, the music comes to it via bluetooth. So, the MUSIC is wireless, but the power for the sub is wired. That means you can place the subwoofer anywhere in the room without the inconvenience of wiring it to the system, but you just have to have it near an AC outlet. As an old stereophile who used to run an early version of "surround sound," NOT having to run speaker wire all over the room is quite a benefit. As I said in my review of the system, it's a nice addition to our home entertainment system at a budget-friendly price point.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Chris. Unfortunately, wireless power is not quite a reality for electronic products so the Subwoofer for the LG SJ4R 4.1 Channel Sound Bar Surround System with Wireless Surround Sound Speakers which requires power has to be plugged into an outlet. The "wireless" description is referring to the Subwoofer receiving its audio signals via Bluetooth from the main unit...^IFV
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just answered this for someone else. The sound is transmitted to the subwoofer via bluetooth, hence the SOUND is wireless. However, any bluetooth device needs some sort of power to operate it. So, as an early adopter of "surround sound" back in the stereophile days, the good news here is that you don't have to run any wire to the subwoofer for sound. That means you can conveniently place the subwoofer wherever you want to as long as it's near an AC outlet, without the need to run wires around the baseboards of the room or under carpets to transmit the sound. In the event I need to explain further, if you're at the gym and listening to music through bluetooth headphones, the MUSIC is coming to you wirelessly, but you still need to recharge the batteries to the headphones at some point in time. So, music = wireless, but bluetooth device = some way to power it.
