"Downloaded" cycles refers to cycles available online that can be downloaded to your machine. Once you use this capability the Rinse & Spin default available by using the "Downloaded" button on the control panel will be replaced by whatever cycle you choose to download. Also, additional cycles are available if you use LG's ThinQ app on your smartphone. A list of cycles is available there. Choose one and select "send to machine" and it will be instantly loaded on your machine, ready to go. The "Options", such as TurboWash, Steam, Extra Rinse, etc. are available via buttons on the control panel to allow you to make changes/additions to the cycle you select. You can also change water temperature, spin speed, soil level from what the cycle selected suggests, if you want. Bottom line, the machine has a nice list of cycles that work very well, but you also have the option to make changes if you want.
