Geek Squad Advised me to wipe the gasket and door at the end of each final load for the week, special attention to the three little holes at the very bottom, this is what drains back into pump. And always leave the door cracked open to air out. Should take care of that for years to come. He said he keeps a small towel on the door or top, for that, and then washes it in the next towel load, keeps a cycle of the routine going. some great suggestions from Dave in Fairlawn Ohio....
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. After the final wash load I use an old washcloth to wipe around the rubber ring....never had a mold or smell problem.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes - and whatever you do don't buy the geeksquad protection expecting them to cover this issue. I've owned multiple LG Front-Load Washers and the sales associate upsold me on the geeksquad protection plan, I asked very specifically about if it covered mold and this issue and was assured that it was covered. I do extensive drying and cleaning of my washer, more often than suggested, wipe down and dry every single time as well as always leaving the door open to dry. When I went to make the claim to have this issue addressed as the original sales associate assured me multiple times that mold was covered I had a terrible terrible experience with both the outsourced repair company and geeksquad trying to remediate this. Multiple calls, multiple cases, hours and hours with a response that the sales associate shouldn't have said that. The repair guy was terrible and disrespectful, unprofessional and not helpful at all. Which was the other learning, geeksquad protection outsources the repair which creates a lot of logistics and bad quality/experiences.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Its best to leave the door open after a wash so it can dry out, theres really no way around getting rid of the moisture with the design. It may be a while that it would take before it starts forming though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not had that issue however I do place a small hand towel on the outside of the door -- hang it there so the washer stays cracked open to dry out.
