In measuring the total depth of the washer from the wall behind it, it is approximately 33.5". The top of the washer is only 27" deep, but the additional depth is needed for the water connections (approximately 4") and the washer door, which sticks out about 1 inch from the front of the washer. If your closet is only 31 inches deep, I don't think this washer will fit.
