Just push and hold the start button for a few seconds and it will pause the cycle, unlock and the lid can be opened. Close the lid and Tap the start button again to re-start the cycle

Mega Capacity Top Load Washer with Turbowash™ Technology, Model # WT7600HKA at the proper time in a wash cycle. When the 'ADD GARMENT' light on the washer is illuminated, it is safe to pause the cycle and add more items to the load. If garments are added when this light is off, the washer will not adjust for the added items which could result in a poor wash performance and fabric damage. The 'ADD GARMENT' light is only an indicator and is not selected by pressing the SPECIAL CARE button. When it comes on, you would need to press the Start/Pause button, open the lid when it unlocks, add your clothes, then close the lid and press the Start/Pause button and the cycle will resume after the lid locks. If the washer remains idle for 5 minutes after pausing the cycle, the water in the tub will drain...^IFV
