Wow, sounds like that salesman was a real winner. He obviously doesn’t have a clue about induction ovens, shame really that he’s working in the appliance department. As to answer your question, YES it absolutely positively has an induction cooktop. I’ve used induction cooktops for many years so I’m very familiar with them & I also did a ton of research before purchasing this oven as I didn’t want to spend $3k & get stuck with something I didn’t like. Like any other induction cooktop, a burner will not turn on if the cookware isn’t induction capable (stainless steel, cast iron, porcelainized cast iron, etc.

You can use a magnet to check to see if the cookware base material is suitable. If the magnet sticks to the bottom of the cookware, the cookware can be used for induction cooking...^IFV
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We have had ours for about 8 months. I do not know your definition of a true induction cooktop - however it is always possible to duplicate digital controls with a "knob" just perhaps not quite as accurate. To address the induction portion - this cooktop does appear to be a "true induction cooktop" in that the food/pans heat up much more quickly than a regular smooth top and while the cooktop is warm to the touch it is not hot (when cleaning up spills next to the pan).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes There are light bars beneath the cooktop surface to provide power level feedback and the knobs are clearly marked.
