Clean the stove top before using it the first time. That's what the instructions say. I think folks are missing that and the protective coating is scratching or something. I haven't had any issues. Scrape it clean with the scraper, and it stays clean. I use all types of pots and pans on mine, no issue with scratching. Smooth bottom skillets and pans are best. Steel is betterthan copper. I use my cast iron, carefully because it's a glass stove top. I'm careful, but I slide aluminum and steel skillets from one burner to another, no scratches at all. I was worried by the reviews, thought I'd made a mistake buying it, So many talked about scratches and hard to clean, but that hasn't been my experience at all. I use CeramaBryte cleaner kit, came with a scraper for tough stains, but once it was clean, it stays clean. Wipe spills up while the stove is hot makes it easier, wear an oven mitt or a dish towel cause it's hot. No regrets. It was tricky at first coming from a old plain Whirlpool electric coil range, but it's a pleasure to use and makes it easier because it heats up quick and hot. Really makes a difference. Air fryer doesnt use oil, it uses air. Dark, low sided cookie sheet does chicken nuggets frozen fries, that stuff, no problem. Spray some cooking oil to crisp stuff up, but there's no runoff. I cook bacon in the oven, use convection settong, drain the grease halfway through, same as any oven, but the convection gets hotter and cooks more evenly. Cooking, in general, goes faster because it's hotter quicker and more controlled.

Place a foil-lined baking tray on a rack in position 2 to catch the oil falling from the food. ^Daphane
