Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.At this time my understanding is that it is not HDR hardware compatible, but is or will be firmware upgradable to receive internet based HDR streaming. It is an edge lit and not a full array backlit TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No HDR. I spoke with 3 LG reps who confirmed this. They also didn't foresee an upgrade to HDR in the future (only for their OLED TVs at $5k). As far as I know it's direct lit. Still, I experience MAJOR light bleed on this TV and returned it for a Sony which is much better overall in my opinion.

The competing Sony (XBR 65850C) was recently made HDR compatible with a firmware update but the LG rep categorically told me this was not possible with the UF8500 or this UF8600

Please try again later.The LG 65" Class (64.5" Diagonal) Prime 4K UHD Smart 3D LED TV with webOS 2.0, Model # 65UF8600 is not capable of processing HDR (High Dynamic Range) content through both streaming sources and connected devices, including those patched into the set’s HDMI 2.0a port. LG HDR compatible TVs are currently the recently released EF9500-series 4K UHD OLED TVs which LG announced in a Press Release dated 08/25/2015 were scheduled to begin arriving at retailers nationwide in September and would have the notable distinction of being the world’s first HDR-capable OLED TV, allowing consumers to display HDR content from both streaming content partners and external source devices. LG’s EG9600 Curved OLED 4K TV series soon will receive a firmware update that enables consumers to stream HDR content from current and future streaming content providers...^IFV
