The size of breaker required for the LG 7.3 cu. ft. Electric Double Oven Range with ProBake Convection®, EasyClean® and Infrared Heating™ System, Model # LDE4415ST will depend on the size of the wire and the type of insulation on the wire if a new circuit breaker is to be installed for a range on an existing circuit. The range circuits in many older homes were wired with 8-gauge wire and older wiring including sheathed cable wiring was rated at 60 degrees Celsius. According to National Electrical Code (NEC) table 310-16, 8-gauge wiring rated at 60 C may carry up to 40 amperes of current. The circuit breaker for that type of wiring must not be greater than 40 amperes. Modern ranges are capable of using more than 40 amperes of current, which was the older standard for electric ovens and ranges. Most new residential house wiring uses sheathed cable with insulation rated at 90 degrees Celsius. The NEC also specifies that sheathed cable must use the 60-degree rating for wire ampacity, regardless of of the insulation rating. Since modern electric ovens and ranges can use more than 40 amperes, the next size wire must be used, which is 6-gauge wire. Six-gauge sheathed cable may carry up to 55 amperes, which dictates the maximum circuit breaker size. Since the electric oven and range don't require that much current, 50-ampere breakers are the norm. The owner's manual for the LDE4415ST states that the LDE4415ST requires a single-phase, 3 wire, A.C 120/208 V or 120/240 V 60 Hz electrical system. Use only a 3-conductor or a 4-conductor UL - listed range cord with closed-loop terminals, open-end spade lugs with upturned ends or similar termination. Do not install the power cord without a strain relief. A range cord rated at 40 amps with 120/208 or 120/240 minimum volt range is required. If a 50 amp range cord is used, it should be marked for use with 13/8" diameter connection openings. This appliance may be connected by means of a conduit or power cord. The range rating in watts at 208V is 11.6 kW and at 240V it is 15.5 kW so if you are using a 3-wire power supply cord, the specified rating of the power supply cord can be either 40 or 50A...^IFV
