Yes, the speakers can be placed at your discretion. Just ensure that the transmitter is getting an adequeate signal for proper operation. ^ Jamal
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can put the speakers directly behind the couch. If your couch sits really close to the floor I would recommend pointing the speaker up the wall. The wireless receiver should still connect.

Only thing I found is the Bluetooth receiver works better if it is in a direct line of site to the sound bar. I have it setting on the table next to the couch.
