The cable with the 3.5mm jack is an IR blaster. It helps you control older set top boxes and other equipment not otherwise compatable with your universal remote. I believe the eight bolts are for mountimg the stand to the tv. I'm not positive, though, as mine is wall mounted. The grey plastic pieces are for cable management behind your tv.
