This SmartTV has no HDMI ports that are output ports. So you could play DVD's from your old player to this TV but you wouldn't be able to record on that DVD recorder if the source signal was from this TV. A work around would be to purchase an external cable/TV source (like an Amazon Fire TV Cube) & run that signal via an HDMI cable from that source, into your old DVD recorder & then out of your old DVD recorder to 1 of the TV's 6 HDMI input ports. In that way, you'd be able to record whatever comes out of the external TV/cable source on your old recorder.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. What type of connections do you have on your old DVD Player? The LG UHD 85 Series 86 inch Class 4K Smart UHD TV with AI ThinQ® (85.6'' Diag), Model # 86UN8570PUC has Mini AV port in the back that you can use with a DVD Player or VCR that has a Composite port (I.e. Red/White/Yellow RCA Barrel ports). An AV Adapter is supplied with the TV that you can use to make the connection. Click on the sixth thumbnail image with '+11 images' on it under the main image for the TV and on the page that opens, click on the third thumbnail image from the top in the right column to view the ports in the back of the TV. The mini AV port is the yellow port near the HDMI 3 port. There is a diagram on the back that shows how to use the adapter...^IFV
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am assuming your old dvd recorder does not have HDMI and only has AV video and sound output. For those with old AV outputs, it needs an adaptor that comes with TV. You will be able to connect the recorder to TV.
