• A:Answer You only need 1 usb port to play DVDs, blu-rays, 4k blu-rays, the only time you need to plug in the other USB is when you want to burn disks and that can be done via usb port into the computer if that cant be done for whatever the reason you can get an extension USB cord and plug it into a usb power adapter. [ like most smart phones now days come with a usb power adapter]

• A:Answer I have been using this to burn dvd copies of my old vhs home movies. I am not sure how you would download a non digital copy without another program. I am using Roxio VHS to DVD program to get the vhs movies onto my computer and then I burn a copy to DVD using my blueray LG disc.
