This refrigerator is a true cabinet depth unit. It is important to note that the actual "cabinet" of a cabinet depth refrigerator is the same depth as the cabinets around it, but the doors actually extend beyond the depth of the surrounding cabinets-- this is important, otherwise, the doors would not be able to swing out and open. That said, it is 4" shallower than the full-depth Kitchen Aid unit we replaced, yet it has more usable capacity, especially in the door shelves. We are very happy with the LG.
