Monster is not the only maker of surge protectors that Best But Carries and all surge protectors have characteristics that make them suitable for particular devices. Some companies make protectors that protect the entire house like those made by Leviton, there are extremely effective protectors made by Panamax that Best Buy Carries and Best Buy also have their house Brands like Insignia or Rocketfish! Ask the seller to compare those to the Monster, I'm sure they have something that will work just as well if not better! You could also check Best Buy online for their selection of surge protectors and they can find them from any of their warehouses or other stores through various resources!...IFV

One of the posts states they have had a refrigerator for 50 years and have never needed one. And that would be true of a basic unite. Our new refrigerator has a smart system with WiFi and a full touch screen, if you have this type of equipment the properly rated surge system is more for the smart components that the compressor and is a must. Repairs for the smart computer could run north of 1500

However, if you want to be safe, just make sure the surge device is rated for refrigerators. It doesn't mean your fridge won't be fried in an electrical storm or major power surge, it just buys you insurance from the surge protection company.
