UPDATE / CORRECTION TO MY ANSWER A MONTH AGO. I have now opened up my new LG 17 and include pictures. There are two slots for NVMe drives and both are occupied, but you could switch one out. Sorry, I was wrong...the memory is soldered to the board. No upgrades on that. New pictures of inside of the PC. Caution: you have to pull off rubber feet and screw covers that are EASY to loose.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.1.Regarding the Ram on 17Z95N it has 16gb onboard soldered there is NO OPTION FOR UPGRADE OF RAM. 2. There are 2 SSD SLOTS Question for LG. For a laptop with such a high price tag why is there no option to upgrade ram ? I appreciate a straight answer if at all possible.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.1. There are 2 NVMe slots and both are occupied with a 1TB drive. 2. You may add another drive, but it will require you to remove one of the others, so not much advantage. 3. You can increase the RAM capacity, but not sure if you can call it an "upgrade". 8 GB of RAM is soldered to board. There is one DIMM which may be removed and replaced with identical RAM with more capacity; up to a 32 GB DIMM may be used. So if desired, it is possible to remove the only accessible DIMM and replace it with a larger capacity DIMM. The maximum total RAM can be increased to 40 GB in such a way. The NEGATIVE in doing this is that the RAM will change from dual channel to single channel because the DIMM units are no longer equal. So, you can increase capacity but you will loose dual channel. About the RAM; it is a brand new type called LPDDR4x at 4266 MHz which is suppose to be 15% more power efficient than previous DDR4. It is so new that I can't find any available for sale at any of the major suppliers as of 01/2021. I have included a picture of the detail for your review. I admit it is a 2020 model, but they are the same except for the RAM speed.
