Yeah, I played a blu-ray last night and my receiver showed Dolby Atmos on the display. It does not yet support Dolby *Vision*, but it does Dolby Atmos.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not sure if atmos can be decoded by the player itself. But assuming you have a capable receiver, the UP970 will just pass it through for decoding and play dolby atmos (and any other audio format) perfectly. All UHD 4K capable players will do this. Not sure why there are still people saying it won't support / play atmos. FWIW, I've had this for a few months - and since sending it for repair for the vibrating/buzz issue - am very pleased with the player.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it Does Support Dolby Atmos
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it does, and the reason I know it does is my AV Receiver reports "DOLBY ATMOS" on it's screen when I send a 4k BluRay movie with ATMOS via HDMI to the receiver from the UP970.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it does support Dobly Atmos, I just upgraded my speakers from 5 to 7 and it works and sounds great. You can hear the sound mover across the room simultaneously with the action on the screen, very cool. Be sure to place your speakers at the correct height and location per your Atmos compatible AV amplifier instructions.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm pretty sure the player cannot decode Dolby Atmos itself, but for most people that is a non-issue as long as you are outputting the undecided audio to your receiver(Which of course needs to be Dolby Atmos compatible.) Also be aware that LG promised to update this player to support Dolby Vision in the future, I'm assuming around the time when the first Dolby Vision disks come out. The first ones from what I've heard are going to be Resident Evil Vendetta and Despicable Me 1 @ 2.
