QuestionJust finished setting this up, advertised as a tri band router but I'm only seeing a single 2.4 GHz band and a single 5 GHz band... where is the third?

- Answer The third band is a separate 5GHz band for backhaul. It is what the "mesh" runs on between nodes and is not configurable. Its there, just facilitating your network connection between nodes.

- Answer I was told that the USB port is non operational at this time, but they plan to activate it in a future firmware release! They did not provide a timeline.

- Answer Hi! Yes, this is compatible with all the Velop products, but this must be the primary node while the Velop nodes are configured as secondary nodes.

- Answer It will work with any internet provider as this is a router, not a modem. Your internet provider can provide the modem, or compatible modems you can purchase, in which you can connect to this WiFi router for expanded connectivity.

- Answer I have a nest camera in my garage which is about 125’ from the router and it works great don’t have issues with it. Just make a priority device in settings and it will get the best signal accordingly

- Answer My TP Link extender worked with this Linksys, but didn’t produce the desired signal strength, partially due to my modem located on one end of a two level home. When using an extender the signal is reduced unlike adding a mesh node. I liked this router but due to my modem placement, ultimately returned this router and dropped the money on the Velop Tri Band 3-pack which is working well n my house.

QuestionHello, I just got Verizon FiOS internet.But I didn't buy their device. Technician installed the cat 5 cable and tested with Verizon router. He got back his device. Is this device enough for me to connect to internet?

- Answer You need a modem to connect to the internet. This device is only a router, which when connected to the modem allows you to create a wi-fi (wireless) network. There are other devices that combine both a modem and router in one unit. This one does not.

QuestionDoes this unit periodically reboot itself ? Will it automatically turn back on after an internet outage or does it need to be manually reset by unplugging the power source? If this model does not do these things are there other units available which do?

- Answer Hi! Our Linksys MR8300 should work with standard cable modems. If you have an existing router or modem-router (gateway) and you want to continue using your main router, you can enhance your Wi-Fi using the Linksys MR8300 with the Velop system.

- Answer It doesn't really matter. The modem you get should be compatible with your internet service provider, which is the most important issue. I am using a Netgear modem with no issues between it and my Linksys router.

- Answer Yes, it is. All of our Velop routers will work with most cable ISPs so long as their modems support Ethernet connection.

QuestionCan this router replace my FIOS router?

- Answer Almost every modem/router combo device provided by an ISP (Like Comcast, Verizon, whoever) will have a LAN/Ethernet port out so you can connect it directly with a computer or a different router. This Linksys router should work just fine with it. Once you have it setup and working, you will need to turn off the wireless features of your ISPs modem/router so that it is not competing with the new router. If you have separate router and modem devices from your ISP (this is not common) then you can just unplug the router they gave you and replace it with this Linksys unit.
