The Ghub software to do that is a bloated buggy unintuitive pain. Everyone agrees on that, whether journalists or the common consumer (a google search will show you an army of complaints and the Logitech support pages will show more than 10 000 PAGES of results.) but it does the job.

I replaced an older Logitech mouse with this one and had to download new software for it (GHUB), and I found it much more difficult to do what I wanted, but in the end with some help from strangers on Reddit I was able to make it work. That said it depends how complicated your plans are for the buttons, if you just want to assign them to keyboard keys that's easy, it gets harder if you want to do combinations of keys.

Once you get the hang of it, it's easy to build custom profiles for programs and games. Just find whatever function you want a specific button to do in the Assignments menu and drag it over to the button you want to bind it to. It even has integrations with Discord and OBS.
