“Can this keyboard record macros on the fly as with its predecessor, the G915? This keyboard seems to be missing the "MR" button. Super useful feature, and will make or break my decision on whether to upgrade.”

The Logitech G915 X LIGHTSPEED doesn't have a dedicated "MR" button for on-the-fly macro recording like its predecessor, the G915. However, you can still record macros using the Logitech G HUB software. This software allows you to create and assign macros to the G-keys on the keyboard.
