I use this headset as my microphone for studying French in my laptop in Rosetta Stone, and I can tell you that the voice input is not at it's best... I like the headset a lot, but in my opinion it doesn't have the high quality I believe you're looking for...
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Considering the price of this model I would give it a shot and return it if it doesn't produce the quality you need.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use it for the same purpose and the answer is no. Go with Plantronic. Audio quality is horrible even with calls. Volume leaves too much to be desired

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't recommend the H540 for voice recording. I had an echo in the recordings. I tried adjusting the input settings, but it didn't help. I use a Mac so it may be different with Windows. If you buy one, test it right away.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would say depending on the price range Blue Yeti or snowball mic work very very well. The same for the Samson co1u and anything after that model. For them the price can range a bit higher up in the $100 range or more. But they offer very good recording for a USB style mic. Next step up would be something with and XLR cable. Also any kind of pop filter will help, either a shield infront or a fitted one over the mic itself.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use the Zoom H-1 for recording my audio via usb. You can also use it with batteries to go "on the road". Another suggestion (that I used) was the Samson GoMic.
