I have never turned mine off. It goes into a sleep mode, and I haven't noticed any battery life hits. I charge mine every two weeks as a matter of habit.

Please try again later.Not sure about sleep mode but I am sure it goes into stand-by mode when not in use as it has an aggressive setting to turn off the backlight when it doesn’t detect any keyboard input. But you have to remember it is connected via Bluetooth so it’s using power in the background to detect keyboard input on-demand. If you leave it on after you power down your PC, the bluetooth connection light will constantly blink until you turn off the keyboard itself. So it’s best to turn it off. It has good battery life though. Personally, I get about 2 weeks of usage before needing a charge. Keyboard is used/connected 12-16 hours a day, 7 days a week, turned off every night. Like they said, your mileage may vary.

It has a proximity sensor so the backlighting will turn on when your hands are close to the keyboard and off again when you pull away. You do not need to turn the keyboard off as long as it is stationary and not being touched.
